.
Prospective candidates for the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME) are to participate in the
exercise on March 14 as the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) begins preparation.
.
The date was announced by JAMB on Monday, December 23, saying the examination will hold between March
14 and April 4.
.
Prof Is-haq Oloyede, registrar of JAMB, made the announcement in Abuja when he met with commissioners for
education from the 36 states.
.
According to Oloyede, registration for the UTME will start on January 13, and end on February 17.
.
JAMB reiterated its zero tolerance for all forms of examination malpractice and is leaving no stone unturned to
curb the menace.
.
In its latest move to eradicate malpractice, the board's registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, gave an indication that
drones may be deployed to monitor the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculations Examination (UTME).
.
Oloyede gave the hint on Thursday, December 19, during a meeting of the stakeholders held at the Congo
Conference Hotel, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in Kaduna state.
.
Meanwhile, JAMB has said it has wielded the big stick on 133 centres where it was discovered that candidates
for the UTME engaged in malpractices.
.
Professor Oloyede said this when he met with operators of Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres and others in
Zaria, Kaduna state on Thursday, December 19.
.
Oloyede said it was also discovered that operators of the affected centres do tamper with the Close Circuit
Television (CCTV) cameras mounted to monitor activities during examinations.
.
The JAMB registrar said the examination body was making efforts to combat this challenge as it was
collaborating with the Computer Professional Council of Nigeria (CPN) ahead of future examinations.
